If you’re interested in helping shape the future of CIVSA, consider seeking a nomination for an Executive Board or Regional Director position for the 2027–2028 CIVSA year. Learn more about the positions and our three-step nomination process below.
Step 1: Select a Position
Consider your strengths, interests, and qualifications when identifying a position. Responsibilities and qualifications for each position are outlined in the CIVSA Operations Manual . The following positions will be filled for the upcoming year:
- President-Elect: Three-year term (President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President).
- Treasurer: Two-year term.
- Secretary: One-year term.
- Regional Directors: One-year term for each of CIVSA’s five regions.
Step 2: Be Nominated
To be considered for a board position, you must first be nominated. There are two ways to submit a nomination:
- Self-nomination: Members may submit their own names for consideration.
- Member nomination: Members in good standing may nominate another member for an Executive Board or Regional Director position. Before submitting the nomination, the nominating member must contact the individual and receive their approval.
To submit a nomination, email nominations@civsa.org with the nominee’s name and the position or positions for which they wish to be considered. This allows the Nominating Committee to anticipate the nominee’s packet and provide reminders about deadlines or missing materials.
Step 3: Complete a Nominee Packet
After being nominated, you must complete the CIVSA Nominee Packet .
The packet includes a nominee application form, reference form, and statement of institutional support, which must be completed by the nominee’s supervisor. It also provides a breakdown of the travel obligations associated with each elected position.
All completed nominee packets must be submitted to nominations@civsa.org by Friday, January 15, 2027.
What Happens Next?
Once all nomination packets have been received, the Nominating Committee will review the complete submissions and present a slate of candidates to the membership by Monday, February 22, 2027. Voting will take place electronically in March 2027.
