[civsa] Final Meal/Senior Sendoff for Students

Hi Carrie!

I enjoyed hearing some of the other ideas (and will probably steal them),
so I thought I would share what we have done. I have my new leadership
staff organize the final meeting each year, this way there is a symbolic
transition of handing off the leadership to the new senior class. This last
year we tried something new that was a huge hit by the seniors, so I think
we have started a tradition!

We had everyone except the seniors bring in appetizers or desserts and we
stuffed our faces for the first half of the event. We then called each
senior up one at a time, as they walked up we posted the most embarrassing
picture we could find from Facebook stalking of their first year on
campus...this was entertaining for everyone in the room! So funny! The
senior was then awarded with a "paper plate award" that was voted on by the
new leadership board. These were just funny awards - look to attached
picture for an example. We also asked all of our tour guides, except for
seniors, to send adjectives to describe each senior. One of my new
leadership members created a "wordle" (see attached picture) of the
adjectives which we then framed and gave to them. This was much more
sentimental and usually got the tears flowing (my goal). The seniors also
loved it as they were preparing for interviews and filling out resumes and
now had a list of words they could look to that described them as leaders.
We also had the seniors share some advice and stories from their time in
the ambassador program. At the very end of the evening we opened up the
floor to our juniors, sophomore, and freshman to share any stories as well.
Many had the seniors as their overnight host or tour guide when they were a
prospective student and wanted to become a tour guide because of them. It
was an awesome night!
