Hi Andrew,

At Bellarmine University, we cover this thoroughly in our information session because we do not want our tour guides to be confronted with questions regarding their scholarships and financial aid packages. As a private university, cost is one of the hottest topics from our visitors, and we've found that it works much better for us if every single visitor hears the information from an admissions professional before beginning their tour.

During the information session, we essentially:

1.       State the "price tag" listed on the website. Acknowledge that it looks like a very scary number.

2.       Tell them what the average cost actually is this year for our freshman class (our Financial Aid Office runs this number for us every year).

3.       Explain Bellarmine's scholarships and financial aid, doing a mini math equation to show how "price tag" - scholarships/financial aid = average cost.

4.       Answer questions about what we just explained.

As a small, private school, this is our strategy, and it works pretty well for us.

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope the fall semester is going well for each of you. I have a quick question that I'm hoping you will be willing to help me out with.

How do you present Cost of Attendance information to prospective students and their families when they visit campus? Is this something that you include in your information session, have your guides talk about on the tour, or leave it up to brochures and viewbooks  to get that information to them?
