Hello Ilka:
Stanford deals with a particularly high tourism population in addition to prospective student visits. (Undergraduate applications numbered 47,450 this past year.) As a result, our Visitor Center has a stand-alone (non-reading/non-traveling) full-time staff of 3 – a Director, Assistant Director, and a Coordinator.

· We have 70-100 student guides each year, 9-12 of whom serve in a paraprofessional capacity as student managers (including responsibility for the facility on the weekends).

· We are open Mon-Fri 8:30-5:00 and 10:00-5:00 on weekends

· During the academic year, we offer 13 tour times on Mon & Fri, 10 on Tue/Wed/Thu and 5 on Sat/Sun.

· Whereas our center’s visitor volume is estimated at about 150,000 annually, our tour registrant numbers hover around the 90,000 mark.
Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Subject: [civsa] VC Structure

Hello-
I am doing some structure research and am trying to find other schools that have a specific Director or Senior Associate Director of the Visitor Center (who do not read applications and/or travel). If your school has one of these positions, would you mind sharing your VC Structure as well as your yearly visit numbers?
[For context, Emerson College has both an Associate Director and Assistant Director, with 40 student ambassadors for approx 10,000 visitors a year.]
Thank you in advance!
Ilka
