[civsa] Saturday Tour Visits

We offer Saturday visits on the first and third Saturday. We offer a university presentation and campus tour. Because of it being Saturday, other services on campus are not available and we generally do not have any pushback from the guests. They have been very valuable for us and we have had a decent response to the group sizes.

Subject: Re: [civsa] Saturday Tour Visits
We host Saturday visit throughout the year excluding breaks and holiday weekends. We tried to table these but the data shows they have high attendance as well as high application and yield rates. We too face the same criticisms at times about offices not being open but the majority of visitors realize that it is a weekend and those opportunities probably won't be available. It's best to try to set them up for that expectation through your communication, which we all know is selectively read. We have a large audience, plenty of tour guide help, but usually one staff member to present and answer questions. It still ends up working out.
Despite some negative feedback along these lines (or about the campus not being too active) we still have a steady stream of data telling us that these visits are valuable, and necessary for a ton of families with kids who are heavily involved and/or taking rigorous, AP filled course loads and are afraid to miss one day of school.

Happy Thursday, all!
I wanted to see if I could get some quick feedback regarding Saturday visits. Do any of you offer them? If so, are they the same as your regular weekday visits? Are offices (Admissions/Financial Aid, etc.) open?
A little background information: we host tours Monday- Friday at 3 different times. We have a biannual campus preview day (on a Saturday) but other than that, we are not open on the weekends. We have a family coming from out of state and can only be here on a Saturday (that is not our campus preview day) and we are doing our best to accommodate them however, they are upset that the university offices are not open.
I did suggest contacting offices they needed to speak to during regular business hours in case they had specific questions, but again, the expectation was to have offices open on Saturdays.
…just wanted to get some quick feedback about weekend visits and/or if you make exceptions for Saturday visits when there doesn’t seem to be another option for the family to travel.
Please let me know… thanks so much for your help!
Best,
Tiffany
