[civsa] Checklists/processes for tour shadowing

Hi Molly,

We recently revamped our Evaluation Tour process (new hires must pass an Evaluation Tour to become certified to give tours; this is the only time our tour guides are formally evaluated on their tour). This evaluation is two-fold:

·         Checklist for accuracy of information

·         Tour Evaluation (cumulative); the Communication Evaluation Rubric is on the back of this form

o   On this form, evaluators can take notes on the new hire’s strengths, weaknesses, and an action plan for how to improve

The Communication Evaluation is based on our training course’s Student Learning Outcomes (in short, our goal is to teach new hires communication skills to speak in front of a large group of people).

Hello everyone,

We have our more senior tour staff go along on tour with our newer tour guides twice per term. They then sit down to spend extra time debriefing the tour, any areas the tour guide feels they want to learn more about, any advice the more senior team member has for them, etc.

I was wondering if anyone has more formal/standardized charts/note-taking sheets that their student leaders use to take notes when they shadow tour guides, or any documents outlining the shadowing process at your institution?
