[civsa] Ambassador Pay Increase for Second Language

Trisha,
We offer an increase for our returners (not based on special skills, but on being rehired). We have 4 levels of pay rates: 1st year Ambassador, 2nd year Ambassador, 3rd year Ambassador, and Team Leader. Our 1st year Ambassador pay rate is the basic federal work study pay rate (our Ambassadors are federal or institutional work study students), which is minimum wage. Their increases are incremental: 50 cent increase for 2nd years; 25 cent increase for 3rd years from 2nd year rate; 25 cent increase for Team Leaders from 3rd year rate. Our College has established an appeal process if the work study employer would like to pay their student employees more than minimum wage.

Hi CIVSA community!

We would like to offer a pay increase of $1/ hr to our Ambassadors who speak a second language, however we are limited this academic year to the student worker job levels and hourly pay rate that are already established.

Does your school offer a pay increase?  If so, is it tied to a student worker pay level or is it separate from the already established level and written in the position description?  Do you know of other offices on your campus that offer a second language pay increase?

Any information on the topic would be wonderful!
