[civsa] Exit Interviews

Hi all,
Last year we began implementing both exit interviews and ‘contract renewals’. The exit interviews were a chance for graduating tour guides to share information on strengths of the tours program, areas for improvement, we asked about training, whether they received enough support from supervisors and their coordinators, and reflection on any growth or accomplishments they’ve had while in the program. The responses were not anonymous but I found that they were pretty open and honest seeing as they were graduating. Following this my colleague and I made it a point to schedule a 1:1 meeting with each of these guides to give them a chance to elaborate or expand on anything they said, or add anything new. This was also a good chance for each of us to thank them for their hard work. Some guides didn’t have anything to add and that was perfectly fine. The questions were sent to them via google forms.
Similarly, we did contract renewals for returning guides where we asked similar questions (also not anonymous) and asked them to renew their contract for the new academic year. This was a chance for them to give us feedback on the program and not feel like they had to wait until graduation. Obviously they weren’t as open as the graduating guides but they still had great feedback to share. All guides get to come back the next year but we wanted something symbolic like our ‘contract’ (not legally binding) so they felt like they were being offered their position again and reaffirm the terms of their employment. The questions were also sent via google forms and we also met with each guide 1:1. This was very time consuming and we’ve still yet to decide if we want to keep the same format for this year (we have ~100 guides total) but extremely beneficial and guides appreciated feeling heard.
Jasmin

We do a one on one meeting before our seniors graduate. I use the attached form to ask questions and take notes during the meeting. This meeting is more about their work experience in the Office of Admission than it is about our campus visit, but we usually get really great feedback about how to improve the experience for our student workers.
Best of luck!

What a great idea. We do an end of year survey of all our tour guides, but not one specifically for our exiting guides. We do our survey with a google form.

I would like to implement an exit interview process for student Ambassadors leaving the program to obtain feedback to improve the campus visit.
Trying to decide between a paper form, an electronic form or a one on one meeting before they graduate?
Anonymous or not?
Does anyone currently have anything in place?
Thanks!
