We had similar problems, so we just started paying our overnight hosts this year. They are part of our A-team which everyone is a tour guide and then they can select a “concentration”. This includes calling campaigns, overnight hosts, and group visits.  We hire our new members in the winter so we have the “old” and “new” employees overlap during our busy spring. This also allows us to hire first time students who often choose overnight hosts at their concentration (we only allow overnights for admitted students). So far so good. They are paid for 5 hours of work at the same rate as giving a tour. We also have more females than males but we also have more female requests so it tends to work out. We offer overnights Monday-Thursday and if a student is traveling alone during our big admitted visit programs.

Hi Everyone,
We have been struggling to find overnight hosts for our our overnight visits.  We schedule several dates through out the year and typically have 20-30 students registered for each visit.  It seems that lately, we are having  a more difficult time securing hosts.

Do you pay your hosts?  If so, for how many hours?
Does anyone offer housing discounts for overnight hosts?  If so how does your program work?
