[civsa] Visitor Center refreshments

Hi!

We have a Keurig coffee maker in our Welcome Center, and guest can choose from coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. We also offer "branded" water bottles, with our visit logo and office information on them, as well as "I" shaped cookies to all of our visitors.

We do not have a specific budget for these refreshments. All refreshment costs comes out of our general Campus Visits budget.

For our water bottles, we work with a local water bottling company that bottles the water, creates the specialize labels, and delivers all orders to us. For the cookies, we work with our campus dining services, and they deliver the cookies to our office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our dining services also provides us with individual bags so we can bag the cookies and make it easier for folks to grab and go.

Our office work-study students are in charge of cleaning and maintaining our refreshment station. When we are running low on any items, they will work with our Office Manager to re-order.

Normally guests are quite good about only taking their share, but our cookies do sometimes disappear a bit quicker than expected. We do budget and order a few extra cookies, each week, just in case we have walk-in visitors or someone takes more than one. We also only provide refreshments to our general campus tours, not group tours.

Let me know if anyone has any additional questions!

Best,

Danae Nagle

Subject: [civsa] Visitor Center refreshments

Hi all!
I hope you all are having a smooth spring break season! The following questions are for those of you who provide refreshments in your visitor center or waiting areas:

* What refreshments do you provide (i.e cookies, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, etc.)?

* Do you have a specific budget for refreshments (if so, any details you are willing to share would be appreciated) or is it just a part of the general admission budget?

* Do you go to a big box store to get your food/supplies or is it provided by your school's dining services department?

* Who's responsibility is it within your office to refresh/clean the charging station area each day?

* Do you have any issues with guests taking too much of certain items or do you just budget for it?

Thanks in advance!
Dee
