Hi Mel,
We train returning student leaders in our program to be a Tour Auditor and the professional staff works with those students to train them on the importance of a great tour, we audit their tours, and we developed an audit form that the tour auditors fill out for each tour guide they audit and that gets emailed to me to review and see what issues are arising. It has helped immensely with my staff of 50 tour guides. I used to try to shadow them all with the help of others, but it has come near impossible.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with additional questions on this program!

Alex

Subject: [civsa] Tour Shadowing Strategies

Hi all,
Happy Wednesday! My office is evaluating ways to shadow the tours of our returning/veteran student ambassadors. In total, this would mean that eight full-time staff members would shadow 40 tours (which last approximately 90 minutes each).

Does anyone have any suggestions, strategies, etc. that you use at your institution to ensure that all student ambassadors are receiving tour feedback on an annual basis?

Hook 'em!
Mel
