[civsa] question about guests bringing luggage to your school...

We always store our visitors' luggage, and make sure we have a secure room available to do so at special events. We have had some thefts of student and staff belongings on campus in the past, so we are extremely careful with guest belongings. We have never had an issue in the past 10 years!

At PSU we'll store the items, letting them know that while someone will always be in our office, we aren't liable for the items. We encourage them to take anything really valuable with them. Thankfully we've never had any issues with this process!

Best,
Kanani

Hey Dee,

We have a few families that do from time to time. We offer to keep it by the front desk since we always have someone staffed here and is within our office - so random people aren't just walking by (i.e. less likely to walk away). We luckily haven't had any issues to date, but I can see issues if you have a different setup.

…. If a guest flies in for a campus visit and they don’t stop by a hotel first, do you all have a place to store their luggage? Do you all refuse to store it for liability reasons? What is your office’s policy on that?
Thanks in advance. :)
