[civsa] Youth and Middle School Group Visits

I love the scavenger hunt idea! We had something similar here at UNT Dallas that I've been trying to revive.

For our Youth Groups, we typically give a College Readiness presentation that is age-appropriate.:

*         For elementary, our presentation talks about how jobs they're interested in will required higher education, how their favorite subjects can lead them into a major, how they can have fun in college, and how they can prepare for college now (make good grades, pay attention in class, talk with their teachers and parents about college goals).

*         For middle school, our presentation again covers how jobs they're interested in will require education, we go over different types of higher education (one year certificates, associate's degree, bachelor's degree, professional degrees), study abroad opportunities, picking their own classes, how much money they can make with a college degree versus a high school  diploma, and basic financial aid.

The activity we do with elementary school is called "My Fantasy College" (attached). We have UNT Dallas crayons that we order for this activities so the kiddos can have their own 4 pack of crayons. We have our Jag Ambassadors lead the students through the activity of creating their own college form their imagination. They love it!

Good Afternoon from Oklahoma!

We have several groups that come from middle schools and we have created a scavenger. Each packet has 11 clues, an answer key and a map of campus. All the groups go to the same places around campus, but in a different order. We allow 10-12 students in a group and for risk management purposes the group has to bring one sponsor per 10 kids.

This isn't a race or a game, but a fun way for them to explore campus and engage with their classmates. We have scavenger hunt for elementary/middle school and one for HS students because sometimes we are too busy to accommodate freshman/sophomore groups.

When the group gets here one of our Campus Tours staff members greets them, gives a welcome speech and then explains the scavenger hunt.

Hello CIVSA folks!
  Our office was recently assigned the task of planning and facilitating all Youth (K-5th) and Middle School (6th- 8th) on campus visits. We are now in the process of building a Youth/ Middle School group visits program and researching best practices for what is and is not offered to visitors in these age categories, at different institutions.
I was wondering if any of you currently cover Youth/ Middle School campus visits and if so, what sorts of activates/ tours do you offer to groups in these age ranges?  Also, do you have different criteria or expectation contracts for younger groups?

Any help would be much appreciate!
