Hi Scott,
We have emergency cell phones that all ambassadors take out on tour. The only numbers in there are the offices, our cell phones, public safety...they know to answer it because the only people calling it would be one of us. We have 6, cheap basic phones. Not sure the cost, but they have come in handy for emergencies as well as if we hear word of a protest and want to warn them, or there needs to be a housing key exchange. No personal cell phones allowed on tour. Hope that helps!

Hopping in on this with a related question - how do you notify your guides of an emergency situation? While they are out on tour, they are far connected from your respective welcome/visitor centers/HQ/etc... are they on their own to discover an emergency and respond accordingly? Most of us have a no-cell phone policy I imagine.

Hi Becca,
At Texas A&M University we have our students do the following trainings:
-child protection training
-active shooter training
-first aid/cpr certification
-golf cart/van training
In addition, we have a handbook that covers all types of emergency scenarios and what to do in the event those situations arise.

Hello everyone,
What training do you require for your staff regarding emergencies for events or tours? I am looking for some good procedures but also wondered if anyone requires staff to have first aid or CPR training? We are looking to add some aspect of this to our fall tour guide training and I am looking for some resources or suggestions.
Thank you!
