[civsa] How are your information sessions and tours set up?

Pretty much ditto what Brett said, though our tours are 2 hours long because of the way our campus is laid out.  We get criticism of the length and amount of walking – but after evaluating things many times, it unfortunately is unavoidable, so we are upfront and tell people to expect a 2.5 hour experience.

Hi Dustin,

At Georgia State, we keep the information session to 30 minutes. It’s a general overview session and we explain to the families that if they would like to speak with an admissions counselor 1:1 after the tour, they can. There is also a student in the info session that does part of it on the student perspective.

As for the tour, it is 90 minutes as well. An hour tour would just be too short, especially with the layout of our campus. We typically don’t get complaints about the length of tour but instead the amount of walking.

Hi Everyone,

We're looking to revamp our information sessions and tours. We get a lot of feedback saying that they're too long and there isn't enough student interaction. Currently guests can register for a 1 hour information session presented by an admissions counselor coupled with a 1.5 hour walking tour around our central campus with a current student.

I would LOVE more guest interaction with our students, but I don't want our higher ups to feel like we would be trying something that hasn't been done before. What do you do for your information sessions and tours?
