Good Afternoon Everyone,

At Texas Wesleyan we integrated a point system about 1 year ago and it has been very successful. My students are given points for campus tours, events, special tours (when the president or alumni office calls), lunch visits, overnight visits, etc. I have them split up in teams and there is a competition that way. I compensate them with gift cards at the end of each semester (small $25 gift cards for the team in the lead at that point, then larger gift cards for the ultimate winning team at the end of the semester). 

At monthly meetings we have a Golden Ram of the Month for those that have been most active with tours that month and that is something that is voted on by my leadership staff. My office purchases these items so I do not have to spend money out of pocket. I have attached the training manual that I designed for their yearly training and the breakdown of the teams and the point system can be found on pages 12 and 13 within it. Look it over and let me know if you have any questions!

I hope your summer has gotten off to a wonderful start!

For those institutions (preferably with a smaller student staff) that have a points system for your tour guides/ambassadors/student workers/volunteers, would you mind sharing your points breakdown with me?

n  What do you give points for ( Campus tours? Events? Office work? Lunch visits?)

n  Do you have the students divided in teams, or is it an individual competition?

n  What incentives do the students receive after reaching certain milestones?

n  How often are those incentives typically distributed?

n  Does your office purchases these gifts or do these incentives come out of your personal pocketbook?

Any documents you can share would be greatly appreciated!
