The University of Arizona prospective student tours are led by Arizona Ambassadors, and honorary club on campus. They have a formal structure, with a leadership team, in-depth training and a highly selective application process. They are recognized throughout campus as leaders. This structure was put in place by my predecessor (and fellow CIVSA member). But I would be happy to provide more details if you want to contact me directly!

I was wondering about different systems you all have in place to manage current student volunteers. Do you have a formal program with a lot of structure? Did you model your program after another system or did you create it yourself?

Thanks for your help!

Happy New Year Everyone!

I am currently in the process of planning a "Spring refresher" training for my Ambassadors at the end of January. It is only going to be around 2 1/2 hours long, but I'd love to get some ideas about different training topics/fun things you all do with your tour guides for training.

Any advice is much appreciated!

-Erika

Two of the major aspects we will be focusing on for our Winter training will be handling difficult questions on campus tours as well as how to go above and beyond in our guest service. Both of these will involve some sort of workshop or role playing aspect.

We do have a few new tour guides joining our staff this semester, so a large portion of our Winter training is introductory material for our new hires.

Hope this helps!
