[civsa] Tour Guide - Paid or Incentive?

I've been at institutions that both pay and don't pay the tour guides.

At the ones that pay, the pay has started at $8 with opportunities to get raises and promotions throughout their time at the university. Also, hours can vary with some tour guides getting a guarantee 5-10 hours a week while more seasoned and responsible tour guide can go all the way up to the maximum of 20 hours per week.

At the institutions that are volunteer, the tour guides are enrolled in a 1-credit leadership course where they get to meet the leadership of the university. They also get priority registration which is extremely popular.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [civsa] Tour Guide - Paid or Incentive?

Morning and Warm Holiday Wishes!

I wanted to inquire about if your tour guides are all paid or if there are incentives for them. Currently, we offer free parking and they do a certain amount of tours a semester, but that doesn't seem to be working well. We are looking at hiring some, but I wanted to see what others do to provide student tour guides for general campus tours.

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to your responses!

Best,
