[civsa] Tour Guide Recognition (UCSB)

Hi Joel,
We have a couple ways of recognizing tour guides at UCSB that I have found to be effective at keeping them excited about leading tours:

-Tour guide of the month belt that one student gets to take home each month. We also display their picture on a wall plaque at the office.
(Currently we have been randomly drawing from the top 5 tour guides of each month (by number of tour given).

-Tour Guide Hall of Fame - Guides get their name engraved on a plaque at the office when they have completed 100 tours

-End of the year Awards Ceremony in which we recognize guides for their accomplishments

-Google doc that lists all tour guide staff and how many tours they have given each month/year - so guides always see their progress

Best wishes,
Anil Gnanamuthu

Joel,

We have a "badassador of the month" and basically spend no more than $10 per month on something from the bookstore. We also print two certificates and they get to keep one, and we hang one in the office. We have a whole wall of Badassadors and they love it. We also ask them for their favorite candy at the beginning of the year and I keep that in my back pocket for recognition too.

Not a whole lot of $$, but they love it!

We also do an end of the year banquet with awards to recognize.

Thanks!
Kari Kolb

Morning,

We have an Ambassador of the month that we nominate and vote on at one of our monthly meetings. It is all done by their peers. If they nominate someone at the meeting, they must stand up and say who they are nominating and why. After all nominations are done, we give out voting slips and collect them at another point in the meeting! The winner receives a certificate and their picture and info about them gets displayed on our tv in at the Welcome Center for the month!
