What a timely question!

We used to have special ‘housing tour guides’, but our campus recently moved to require first-year students to live on campus.  As such, we have begun transitioning the ‘service at all costs’ mentality of the Housing department to a more restricted access philosophy due to safety and privacy issues for our current residents (and, honestly, workload/staffing for us).  We offer as part of our campus tour, a walk through one residence hall’s ‘amenities’ (laundry facilities, common areas, lounges, etc.) and a show room in another hall nearby.  The show room is unoccupied and represents approximately 90% of the rooms a first-year student can live in.  We make some accommodations for admitted University Honors College students who have a designated hall via a separate tour of that specific hall.  These occur at 3:30pm (or other times if our staffing accommodates).

To allow for more traffic during visit program days, we are working with the Housing department to get ‘sponsored show rooms’ in different halls.  These are unoccupied but sponsored by local and corporate sponsors to offset the costs of them being offline.

Greetings!  Here at the UA, our Housing Tours are provided separately by Residence Life.  They occur at 1245pm and last an hour (enough time for guests from either our 10am or 2pm tours to participate).  Res Life has their own guides who will take guests thru three residence halls, the last being their own hall that includes that guides room.
