[civsa] Wheelchair use

We do not own a wheelchair, but have worked with our Health Center and Student Recreation Center to get a wheelchair for a visitor if they do request one ahead of time.  We probably see between 8-10 requests a year as well.

We are a pretty flat campus, so I have not heard anything about risk and liability on our campus and the visitor should have assistance from another guest they are with. Our guides know of the wheelchair accessible entrances to the buildings on the tour, so they are not a problem at all to include on our standard tour.

Hi CiVSA,

We are currently re-evaluating how we assist guests with mobility issues.  Do any of you have a wheelchair that you loan to guests? If so, would you please provide answers to the following questions?

  1.  What is your process for guests acquiring the wheelchair?
  2.  How often does the wheelchair get utilized?
  3.  Do you offer a wheelchair option when your guests are at alternate locations (such as on an event day)?
  4.  Any other thoughts on the issue?
