Hi Barbara,

We have had a similar explosion of group tours! We have implemented some limits to help keep the volume from impacting our ability to serve individual prospective students:

What audiences do you accommodate? (elementary, or middle, or high schools, or all three; alumni; church youth groups; community groups?) For instance, we recently had requests from a high school wanting to bring 150 students to campus for a tour & info session followed by a diversity panel (current students) and we had requests from elementary schools wanting to bring 55 students for a tour and session about the importance of academics and we had a request from alumni classmates who want an historical tour of campus and we've had church youth groups who want us to tell them about Valpo while giving a campus tour followed by attendance at the chapel service.

>We accommodate high school groups, church groups, alumni groups and some community groups as long as prospective high school or transfer students are involved. We also do tours once a year for alumni only as part of our homecoming weekend. We do not accommodate middle or elementary school groups with a guided tour, but have developed a self-guided scavenger hunt tour to accommodate those requests.

Do you limit these tours to specific days? (if yes, which days) > We limit our group tours to our established tour times (10am, 12pm & 3pm M-F) and do not offer group visits on weekends

Do you limit these tours to specific hours of the day? (which times) > See above

Do you limit the number of people per group tour? (e.g. 50 students per group that visits) > Yes, we cap tours at 50 students total.

Do you require a certain number of chaperones for the groups of students? > Yes
If yes, what is the ratio per student? > 1:12

Do you feed your groups on campus/pay for the meals through your own budget or do you tell them to bring a sack lunch? > We arrange lunches for groups in our dining commons, but they are responsible for the cost of lunch. We also offer space for the group to eat should they want to bring a sack lunch.

Outside of the tour and potential lunch, what else do you provide for a group visit? > We also offer group Admission information sessions

Hope this helps!

CIVSA Friends -

Greetings from Birmingham, AL! We are in the process of revamping our visitor parking signs. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share pictures of your personalized visitor parking signs. I was also curious if anyone is using digital signage to personalize visitor parking with the prospective student's name/hometown.

Happy Wednesday!

Hi all! Can you provide us some feedback, please, on how you accommodate organized groups that want to visit your campus? Our requests for high school and other group visits have exploded in the past two years and we're trying to determine what other schools are doing and how we should modify our own programs, if at all.

Thanks in advance from your friends at Valpo!
