Compilation of answers:
Here are a couple of things our President does for our Ambassadors:
* Our Ambassadors are broken into teams and earn points all semester for giving tours, etc. The team with the most points at the end of each semester have a really nice catered meal at the President's home. He typically asks them to share stories about their best/worst/most bizarre tours from the semester (which always is a funny moment for to him to hear the wacky moments that we all joke about). He also gives them some "insider information" on what's happening at the University - they always love the extra attention of knowing what's happening at our upper administration level.
* All seniors who fulfill their Ambassador requirements for 2 - 3 years are given time to meet with the President in the early part of spring semester of their senior year individually. He then will either serve as a reference for them or write them a general letter of recommendation to take with them for job interviews or graduate school.
If there are any other great ideas you've come across, I'd love to hear them!
Hope all is well! Best wishes for a great weekend!

Good morning all!
Our President will typically do an afternoon reception in the spring or fall at his home on campus to recognize the ambassadors. During each term, however, our Assistant Provost for EM hosts a couple of dinners in locations around town to recognize the students but to also give them a chance to see a point of interest in the area that they can be more familiar with and know about when talking with students. For example, in October we hosted a dinner at Keeneland Race Course and the president of Keeneland was the special guest and spoke to the students about the history of horse racing in the area, how things operate and the importance of the industry to Lexington, etc. The students have really enjoyed the dinners and have appreciated the additional information they receive about the locations to be able to use when guests ask questions about the surrounding area.
Have a great day!

Our provost and dean have a reception each fall for the guides to thank them personally. Part of the prestige is the location but also that both of these deans and provosts will write letters of rec for the guides so they see this as a chance to build or maintain relationships that might be critical for them later in life.
Thanks!

Annually MU's Chancellor and First Lady host the tour guides and key administrators in their home for a breakfast or reception, depending on calendar availability, to personally thank them for their service. One reason this is so special is the prestige of the home and the select nature of getting the opportunity to visit the home.

Hi Kathy,
Can you please share the responses you received ~ I would be interested in seeing what our University Presidents do for their tour guides.
Thanks,

We are very excited to have been approached by our University?s President to come up with some creative strategies of recognizing the hard work and dedication of our tour guides. We have come up with a few but I wanted to check and see if you had an any successful recognition efforts from your university at large.
Thank you for sharing.
