SUMMARY:Region I February Chat
DESCRIPTION:How to show appreciation \nLove languages\, Enneagrams\, Myers Briggs – they all have something in common\, helping you to understand what makes someone tick. Showing appreciation for a group of students and professional staff is hard – what one person may want (words of affirmation for example) may make someone else cringe. So how to you navigate showing appreciation to big groups of students and staff teams? Let’s talk! Cassandra Kopriva from University of Puget Sound will talk through some common ways she builds engagement & community among her student staff (and events she organizes for pro-staff) to show appreciation & we’ll have open time to talk about what you might be doing too. If you’re feeling the love (platonic\, strictly professional\, love) tune in to get ideas on how you too can show appreciation. \nRegister using the link below; the zoom link will be emailed to you.

SUMMARY:Incorporating Land Acknowledgements And Indigenous Content In Your Campus Tour Program
DESCRIPTION:Land Acknowledgements are an important practice of recognizing the traditional people of a place while affirming their sovereignty and ongoing presence. This practice should also be a catalyst for further reflection\, conversation\, and action. The University of British Columbia (UBC)\, whose campuses are located on the traditional\, ancestral and unceded territories of the Musqueam and Syilx Nations\, is in the process of implementing an Indigenous Strategic Plan which provides guidance for action and a framework for reconciliation in a post-secondary context. As such\, our campus tours program has been reflecting on how we can thoughtfully embed indigenous content and decolonial perspectives into our work. This session invites those who are new to this journey and those who have more experience to learn together and share best practices on how we can develop land acknowledgements and embed indigenous content in your campus tour programs in meaningful ways. \nRegister using the link below; the zoom link will be emailed to you.
