[civsa] Storytelling Resources for Tour Guides

Hi Lynise,

Our SAMbassadors are currently in training this week and we hosted a session yesterday on story telling... and I actually got the idea from a session that I attended at CIVSA SDI earlier this month.

We paired our students into groups of 2 and had them designate a student A and a student B. All A students told B students their personal stories about using a service/resource office on campus and all B's had to stand and present the stories as if they were on tour. This really helped our students who have never used a particular service at least have a story (or a few that they could choose from) and/or just having another story to share in general for anyone that wanted to use it.

We also meet weekly and I will continue to have them do this fairly often (about residence life/dining/rec. center, etc.) so that students have more stories/experiences to share on tour. We do not have an exact worded script that students have to follow so we love it when they share their stories, and also share others.

Good afternoon,

We are updating our tour script/resources for our tour guides at Grove City College, a small liberal arts college, north of Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm looking for any storytelling resources you may use with your guides in training to help them develop content to share on tour. I know I've seen graphic organizers that help tour guides write their own narratives on CIVSA listserv or website, but cannot seem to find them now.  I'm also interested in learning more about Fact, Fact, Story. Any resources or assistance you can provide would be most helpful.
