[civsa] Spring break visits

Greetings!

To answer a few of your questions, the University of Minnesota-Duluth does
the following:

1) We hold an Admitted Student Day revolving around each of our academic
colleges (five in total). There is always potential to have admitted
students attend our daily visits but we offer these day-long programs as a
closer look into the academic areas while offering tours, meals,
information fairs, etc.

2) Typically, we do not hold any formal Admitted Student programs beyond
the first week of March.

3) In my opinion, I think holding an Admitted Student program at any point
in the spring semester will work out fine. I believe that your attendance
will be higher earlier in the semester, but I don't think you can lose.

4) I think it can be done but there are a lot of challenges with hosting a
visit during a break period including: low student populations on campus to
illustrate a true campus feel, an inability to recruit an adequate number
of tour guides to pick up the tour shifts because they are on break, etc.
UMD currently does not advertise tour availability during our break periods
but we do offer exceptions on a case-by-case basis. We always communicate
to the families visiting during our break that it is a break period and
campus will not look like it typically does during the rest of the
semester. Once that information is shared, usually the families opt for a
different day. However, if they still decide to come, it is much easier to
accommodate one or two families rather than ten or more.

I hope this helps a little with your question!
