Hello CIVSAers-

My name is Corey Novak and I am a graduate student at Fairfield University in the Masters of Communication program. I also work as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission and Campus Visit Coordinator at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. One of my responsibilities in the Office is to manage our social media channels, including our Official “Class of____” Facebook pages.

I am completing my Masters program and am exploring thesis ideas that relate to my two interests- higher education and social media. One proposed thesis idea that I have is how students use the official University “Class of ____” pages to communicate with each other. It is my hope to gain access to various institutions’ Class of 2020 pages and perform a content analysis of the different posts to learn about their function during the admissions decisions process.

In order to gain information, I would need access to different official accounts on Facebook. I am contacting you to inquire about the possibility of gaining access to your Class of 2020 page. I promise to never post, comment, like, or interact in any way with the students on the page. The data that I collect will be used solely for research purposes and the anonymity of your students would remain.

Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or if you would permit me to analyze the content in your social media group.
