Hi Tia,
We use charter busses for our large scale programs (open houses) and it has worked quite well. We are selective, meaning we offer transportation to students (and their families) we are actively recruiting; not to the community at large.
For liability purposes, it's always a good idea to require a parent or guardian chaperone their student on the bus ride and at the event they are attending.

Subject: [civsa] Transporting Students to Campus for Events
Hi Everyone,
We are entertaining the idea of providing transportation from local high schools and community colleges for some tour dates and large-scale events.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Has this been successful in terms of increase event/tour attendance? Did the benefit (in terms of applications or attendees) outweigh the cost of a bus/driver/etc.?
Thanks!
Tia
