[civsa] Developmental/Training Ambassador programs

Saturday greetings!
We just concluded our Ambassador selection for the 2016-2017 academic year. We had a very large applicant pool compared to what we're used to evaluating (which is wonderful!). We have our definite "yes" group (about 40). Then we have our "you're so close, but not yet" group (less than 10) and we are considering starting a Developmental or Training group with them. Our Ambassadors are paid. Because of budget limitations this Developmental group would be unpaid. I know that there are similar unpaid Developmental or Training groups out there. What does this look like at your college or university? What do you ask them to do? Do you have any specific training programs that you put them through? Our HR office has made it very clear that we cannot ask the unpaid group to do the same things that our paid group is asked to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! We don't want to lose these rising stars if we can avoid it. Thank you!
