Greetings from MSU Denver!

Here at MSU Denver we use an online software called 'DialMyCalls', which sends out mass text messages to our applicants. We currently are using this system to contact applicants reminding them about important deadlines, missing documents, or any other information that needs the applicant's attention. The university also uses this software to contact continuing students to remind them to register as well as any information that requires the student's attention. The system is not included in any CRM software unfortunately. Students 'opt-in' when they send in an application, but have the option to opt-out by replying 'STOP' to the message they received. I know that there is software out there that includes a text messaging component for campus visits, however, what about general text messaging to prospects and admits?  My questions are:
1. Are you currently texting prospects and admits?
2. What software do you use to do so and is it part of your CRM software package?
3. Do prospects and/or admits have to opt in to receive and how do they opt in?
