I forgot to mention that - I also refuse excusal forms unless the student has come on a tour.  We've also had many a parent get upset asking for a letter upfront, and then told it would be given to them after the tour.

Another item I forgot, there are some sample letters in the Members Only section too :)  I got most of my inspiration from those.

Hi Forrest,
Our letter is pretty short and sweet. I'll usually staple it to the forms the students bring for signatures.  I have also seen the forms that say business cards are not acceptable. :)

The issue I run into here a lot is people that just come to visit campus on their own and then they want a letter. We'll only give excuse letters if they actually go on our tour. If they meet with an advisor or coach, etc., I have the unpleasant task of telling them they will have to request an excuse letter from the person they met with.

Good morning,

Texas Tech is looking to update its school excuse letter/memo and I'm curious if anyone has some insight into high school preferences.  I know some colleges provide a 'certificate of attendance' or others a more formal letter.  Does anyone have an example they can share of what they provide to students or any experience with this?
