We also cancel all visits if the University is closed.  We will text and call (we ask for cell phone numbers from all visitors along with permission to send visit texts) all anticipated visitors the morning of the visit (by 6 am), place an out of office message on our main office voicemail and our reminder emails include the following verbiage "... NOTE: in the possibility of inclement weather, please check the University website at www.usciences.edu for up to date alerts of University closing and reopening  information.  We will also have a message on our voicemail so please call 215-596-8810 and listen to the message if you have any questions about the visit on your day."

University policy dictates that closing decision must be made by 5:30 am so I can then text prospective students; when we have had to close in the middle of the day we then call and email the prospective students for the afternoon visits and/or if we are closing in advance we call/text/email as appropriate.

Hi Kirsten,

If the university closes for inclement weather, then unfortunately we also cancel our tours. Our reasoning is that the only university buildings that are open are hospital buildings. Therefore, snow plowing, de-icing, salting, etc. has priority on the hospital buildings. It would simply be unsafe for our staff and guests to tour the campus. Fortunately, this has only happened once in my career.
