[civsa] Named visitor centers

HI Blake -

At Northwestern, as Betty mentioned below, our Center is named for the co-founders of Crate and Barrel and longtime supporters of the University, Mr. and Mrs. Segal.

We have visit numbers that reach over 50,000 people annually, and the space we were in could not accommodate those numbers, nor would it allow for any growth. Sharing these types of numbers with Administration, believed, definitely helped our efforts in getting a new space. I have attached a picture of the Center.

Another thing that has made our Center a success is parking. The Center sits on the south entry point of campus and provides some much needed parking for the entire University, along with our visitors. The Center is 7 floors, but floors 2-7 are just parking! The first floor is the Center, and ½ of the second floor is offices. After we opened the Center, the building has become a community building for the University and we do not charge departments to use the space either. Events occur afterhours for all sorts of departments across the University, and has become a desired place for our Career Advancement Office to host high profile employers, graduate Programs to hosting evening events for their admitted student programming, and the list goes on and on. We have hosted over 125 outside events, over 5,500 people, in addition to our daily visits. I think you could put together a very compelling proposal if you can explain how the Center will positively impact not only UG admission and recruitment, but also how it can be a resource for the entire University.

If you would like to talk in more depth, please feel free to reach out!

Cheers,
Erik

Good afternoon from the West Coast!

Who all has a named visitor center (specifically donor named)? We are trying to gain footing with our fundraising arm to put a new visitor center on a list of fundraising priorities.

Thanks in advance,
Blake
