[civsa] Parking for Events

We have a pretty small campus, but we use big tear drop signs that say "Admissions Event" on the corners of campus and at the entrance to the lot. We also have an Ambassador or two stationed at each sign to help people who may be confused or not know where they are going. We also send a detailed map with directions and arrows. We still get the occasional complaint or call from people who got lost.

This works for us, but our campus is only about 22 acres and is all within 1 city block.

Hi Trent,
We have big signs with the event name that go up on the perimeter of campus from the main roads and then we have 'event parking' signs with arrows on the inside of campus.  Seems to work pretty well.  We also send out a map with the directions to the starting location for the event with the reminder emails we send out.  Of course we still get complaints every once in a while, but its much better than what we used to do. J

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am in the process of ordering new parking signs for our events but before I do I wanted to ask what some other schools do. Do you all do parking specific signs or just event signs? If you have had any problem with visitors saying they have a tough time with directions you have sent them how do you combat that? Thanks ahead of time!
