Kari,

I ask that the professors who are really interested give me a recommendation for students that they think will be great for the program. So in addition to the general recruitment efforts that I do, they are always on the lookout for students who would be a great representation as well. I don’t require that they write a recommendation for these students but some professors and staff have taken it upon themselves to write a recommendation letter for the students. That has been a big help in the decision making process. I hope this helps ☺
