Arkansas State piloted a combination Admitted Red Wolves (incoming freshmen) and Soon To Be Seniors (rising juniors) Open House at a location about 2 1/2 hours away from our main campus last summer. It was held in July and was very successful. We plan to make this an annual event at this location with plans to go to other parts of the state in 2016. This was an invitation event. Students were asked to pre-register.
This event was very casual with a heavy community aspect in that we invited local businesses to set up much like an inside tailgate. Many of the businesses provided a give-away of some sort. Staff from Recruitment, Residence Life, Admissions/Registrar, Honors, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Study Abroad, Treasurer's Office, Parking Services, Leadership Center, Alumni, and our System Office were on hand to answer questions and provide information. Our Spirit Squads (mascots, cheerleaders, and dance team) were our greeters and our Student Recreation Center provided games (giant jenga, giant checkers, baggo, etc.). All students were given a t-shirt specifically designed for this event.
5:30 pm - 7:30 pm: Doors opened with businesses set up in the pre-function area outside the ballroom. The A-State staff set up at tables around the perimeter inside the ballroom. Games were in the center of the ballroom with food tables at the front. We ran video clips of campus activities with high energy music and student testimonials throughout the event. 6:30 pm: Welcome to the Pack! Speakers included notable alumni, SGA President, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and the VP of University Relations from our System Office. This format worked well for this location.
Pack Pride!

Hi;
We are considering hosting an admitted student day - off campus - does anyone else do this and what does your agenda look like - we've not hosted one off campus before. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Sue
