Group Visit Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in Rensselaer. In order to offer a superior visit experience to your group, we suggest the following guidelines:

•        Timely Arrival
Prior to your visit, you will receive a confirmation of your itinerary for the day. Please arrive 15 - 20 minutes early to ensure we start on time. Students may be asked to complete visit forms upon arrival.  If you are running late, please contact the front desk of Admissions at 518-276-8460.  In the event of a late arrival, some activities may need to be shortened.

•        Cancellation Notice
If you find it necessary to cancel your visit, please give us at least three days’ notice by calling 518-276-6194
•        Chaperones
Please provide an adequate number of chaperones. Chaperones will be required to accompany the group at all times during the visit.

•        Visit Preparation
The visit may include a substantial amount of walking. Please encourage all students to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Please dress for the weather.


•        Conduct
Out of respect for other families and our tour guides, we ask that all visitors please refrain from using electronic devices during a campus tour (i.e., texting, phone calls, music).  Also, please ensure your organization’s participants respect the Institute and its students, faculty, and staff along with other families who are visiting that day. Failure to do so may result in early conclusion of the visit and may limit availability for future visits by your organization.

Subject: [civsa] Group visit contract

Hey everyone,

Just got a call from our Legal Department and they want us to set up a Group Visit contract to spell out, and set the expectations for what the responsibilities are for the visiting group (everything) and for us (nothing).  I am all on board for this and would love if anyone, who currently has groups sign a contract or code of conduct notice prior to their visit, could send me a copy so I can see how to script ours.
