[civsa] Ambassador Incentive/Point Systems

Hello Friends! This year we tried something new within Arizona Ambassadors for incentives… skip to the last paragraph if you want to just view that.
Pretty much as it has always been, Ambassadors are required to complete a certain number of “Outreach Tours” or “Special Events” that are outside of the scope of their weekly (ish) tour requirements. Most of these are worth one point – some are worth double due to duties performed, populations served, time spent, etc. Outreach Tours are basically HS group tours. Special Events could be helping doing a panel, mingling, directions, pep rallies… almost everything under the rainbow.
These required numbers change every semester based on how many of these extra things are scheduled (and honestly we kinda curve it based on how many people are already doing these things around mid-semester). We found this approach works, as before, Ambassadors knowing their requirements, would quickly get those out of the way and then not sign up for anything else putting us in a bind. This way, they have no idea what their requirement will be until mid-semester, so they are encouraged to sign up for as much in advance as possible.
If you want to see how we track these – you can visit http://tiny.cc/specialtours and click on “Tour Tracker 13-14.” It’s locked down, so you don’t have to worry about messing up my system :)
As you can see, many of our lovely Ambassadors go overboard, and we love them for it. That’s where the incentives kick in.
Up until this year, we used to enter them in a raffle. Completing your requirement would get you one ticket. Any additional tour/event after that would result in an extra ticket. That said, there were some Ambassadors with 20-30 tickets in the pot. Ironically, NONE of them would ever win the raffle over the last few years. This year, we changed that, and we decided to give prizes to our top people, in lieu of a raffle. Guaranteed prizes for our top performers. These prizes ranged from a massage at the Rec Center, to various gift cards (all of which were DONATED) by our local vendors.
Sorry for long winded, I hope this helps! Can’t wait to see so many of you in Chicago!
Scott
PS – Anyone who fell behind their requirement goes into deficit and must make that up in the next semester, or risk dismissal.

Subject: [civsa] Ambassador Incentive/Point Systems
Hello Everyone!
For those of you that manage ambassador programs in your office, do any of you have incentive or point-based systems in place? We have a large volunteer ambassador program and are looking to re-vamp parts of our program using a points scale (i.e. you earn x amount of points for a tour, panel, etc). and so many points are required per month (or something similar).
Would love to hear what other ambassador programs are using/if someone has a system in place like this already!
Many thanks,
Jessica
