Hi!  We have been doing this type of tours for about 4 years now.  We don't use this model for all of our tours, but it is definitely an asset in our portfolio!  I encourage you to do it.



We began with shuttles contracted through the campus (complete with driver) and then went on to charter busses from an area company.  For liability/insurance reasons we only use the drivers provided by the "company" that we charter with (whether it is the campus shuttle service or an outside vendor).  I would not recommend using your staff (full-time or part-time) for this.  Not only does it place a great deal of liability on them directly, but it also would place your university in a bad position were a crash to ever happen.

Hello CIVSA friends!

My institution is looking to start offering hybrid tours this summer with shuttles.  We are really excited to offer this new tour feature!  I am hoping you can assist with one hurdle we are facing – does your institution offer shuttle tours and if so, what polices do you have in place for tour guides to drive these?  Or do you have staff drive these instead of a tour guide?  Any information and/or documentation you use would be incredibly helpful!
