[civsa] Greetings - Important information about a campus tours website

Good Friday morning all,

        I have been checking this site periodically to see if KWC was on it.  This morning I went to the site to check again and where it has a book for you to select a school, there are currently no schools at all.

Likewise, we had our legal dept issue a cease-and-desist and we were promptly removed (as far as I can tell).
Encourage all others to follow suit to smack down this seemingly burgeoning industry.

Do not use them. We at UC Berkeley had to issue a cease and desist letter to get them to remove us and other UC's from their list.

Greetings, Region III!

One of CIVSA's members recently found this interesting website that we thought all membership should be aware of - please see below:

In case you haven't heard of this, I just wanted to make you aware of this website - www.visitdays.com<http://www.visitdays.com/>. I found out yesterday that this website, which launched a few months ago, was booking students for campus tours for Furman without our permission. They never contacted us - just put up our logo and says they'll book campus tours for prospective students. It has a calendar with "available" dates and times. I actually booked a campus tour for myself at Furman on a day where we aren't offering tours at all. I received a confirmation telling me my tour was booked and that Furman was looking forward to seeing me there.

Needless to say, I've called and had our university removed. The Founder and CEO told me they don't need my permission to do this - they've basically inserted them as a middle man to make booking campus visits easier for prospective students. He said their lawyers have said they are allowed to use our logo, our university name, etc. He said we were identified in a focus group as a university that should use this website (???), and they plan on expanding to all universities and colleges in the US. I, of course, reminded him about trademark laws, etc. He didn't seem to care.

Some of your schools are on there, so if you don't want them to be booking tours for you, I'd give them a call!
