[civsa] Wheelchair use

Hello Christy, 

 

We are located in an urban environment with steep hills and quite a few
stairs. When I arrived to UW Tacoma, I asked these exact questions. I was
surprised to learn that due to liability, we cannot and do not loan
wheelchairs. If someone requires an alternate tour route, we can make that
accommodation, but we cannot offer the actual wheelchair. I suggest you
check-in with your risk management office for their insight.

Hi CiVSA,

 

We are currently re-evaluating how we assist guests with mobility issues.
Do any of you have a wheelchair that you loan to guests? If so, would you
please provide answers to the following questions?

1.	What is your process for guests acquiring the wheelchair?
2.	How often does the wheelchair get utilized?
3.	Do you offer a wheelchair option when your guests are at alternate
locations (such as on an event day)?
4.	Any other thoughts on the issue?
