Subject: [civsa] Position Announcement: Beloit College

CiVSA Friends,

After an amazing four years as a student at Beloit and another four on the staff, I'm heading off to Penn for grad school in the fall. Below is an announcement for my position. Please let me know if you have any questions about living and working at Beloit. It is a wonderful place.
ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF
MULTICULTURAL RECRUITMENT

The Beloit College Admissions Office invites applications to join an outstanding, successful staff as a full-time admissions counselor/assistant director of admissions and coordinator of multicultural recruitment. This position will assume responsibility for management of a regional geographic territory. In addition, this position will help to coordinate the on- and off-campus programs and strategies specific to multicultural recruitment; serve as liaison with the Director of Intercultural Programs; travel to programs and high schools preparing students for postsecondary education, participate in college fairs, interview students, speak at events representing Beloit College, application review and evaluation, participate in and help to organize on-campus programming including the recruitment and training of current students to participate in on-campus events, and other admissions-related duties.

Bachelor’s degree required and 2-3 years direct or related experience expected. Recent college graduates with experience in campus ambassador or intern programs will be considered. Title will be commensurate with experience. Commitment to the liberal arts and learning in a multicultural environment, proven communications skills, computer literacy and facility with social media, high energy/enthusiasm/motivation expected. Ability to work autonomously and willingness to work extended hours seasonally. Valid driver’s license required, as is a sense of humor.

Beloit College takes great pride in its 1,250 students who come from nearly every state and over 30 foreign countries. U.S. students of color compose 18% of the student body, an additional 10% are foreign citizens, and out of the top 110 liberal arts colleges in the nation, Beloit is one of only several that have the McNair Scholars Program. The city of Beloit is richly diverse and has a population of approximately 36,000. Located on the Wisconsin/Illinois border, the city also enjoys the Rock River, the site of Beloit’s manufacturing past, and now the focal point of a lush riverfront park and part of the ambitious vision for the city’s growth and redevelopment.

Applications will be accepted and reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Start date is negotiable but preferably no later than June 15.

Submit the following electronically to applyadmis at beloit.edu<mailto:applyadmis at beloit.edu> as one PDF: a letter of interest, resume, and names and contact information for three professional references. Beloit College is committed to diversity in all its forms, and urges all interested individuals to apply.

                                                AA/EEO Employer
